Pretty much always ally with Dracs if close, shut down cultists or morgs as early as possible because their early game unit spam is capable of dunking forgotten's early game if you don't have a solid assimilated tank like urces or hydras to counter their death ball of minions/econ of mind fuckery before you have your own flying AOE units to just turn 1 divebomb that nonsense to death. Mid to late game I try to infiltrate vaulters/mages as they're likely to have a wider pool of late era techs so I can buy my own econ and get all my military techs through theft at the same time.

Early game I try to infiltrate broken lords if I can as they prioritize dust techs, which I want a lot of early on. I try to keep in mind what I'm after when picking infiltrations.

By the time you get those you should have the econ to instantly equip them and summarily pillage the whole map or just zerg down any enemy you want for your endgame (if you haven't already pillaged-and-then-sieged everyone in to the ground with your accelerated tech and massive stacks of stolen resources and dust)

For non-forgotten homeland generals I like pulling cultists since their bonuses synergize well and they're solid infantry picks.Īfter that I generally stop buying heroes and play the board while doing the quest line, as the quest line is going to poop out three more free forgotten heros. many neighbors, get a general to govern against sieges/command homeland defense, few neighbors, get a spy and embed it with a far away neighbor to have more tech theft options, or a close one you plan on assaulting. Use ziema as the field general, and buy one additional non-forgotten generals or forgotten spy depending on how many neighbors you have early on. The second you have ziema, put that first hero in a spy position and use it to spy for the rest of the game. I usually start speccing the starter hero for spying straight off, and blitz the questline to get ziema. Your Forgotten hero isn't "on the line" in most cases if you're going the tech-spy route because you get a ton of free heroes from the forgotten's quest line. And unless your spy is level 5 (at which you can teach him total capture immunity), you need to relocate your spy or risk having him captured for 15-30 turns (depending on speed). The moment you do an espionage action and the action is revealed to the city owner, they will start a roundup, which is a 4 turn (or 2 turn on fast speed) state of increased Security after which there is an attempt to flush your spy.

Each time you feel you need to steal techs, think how you can improve your Dust econ and either keep your spy in the city hidden for the decisive strike (espionage actions can't fail, even if your spy is captured a full magnitude of espionage action is applied) or assign them to army/city and have them level there. And if you can't afford buying techs as Forgotten when techs cost more than 600, you need to revise your strategy. You put your 400-1k Dust hero at risk for stealing 200- 600 Dust. Tech stealing as Forgotten is a noob bait. Need to mow through elite units of Broken Lords? Decrease Morale by 3 to give them -45% to Attack and Defense.ĭecrease production might come in handy if you see enemy building a guardian or a late era wonder. See that 1k fortifications Cultists city? Click one button and see all those numbers gone. Damage fortification and Decrease Morale are particularly powerful.
